Dr. Hedges, originally from Brooklyn, New York, relocated to Texas in 1997 and has since held progressive leadership positions in both acute care and academic settings.
In addition to her leadership in nursing education, Dr. Hedges is deeply engaged in scholarship and professional service. She serves as a manuscript reviewer for peer-reviewed journals, an abstract reviewer for three national conferences, and conference chair for an annual international event. She has contributed multiple chapters to books supporting nursing faculty and co-authored a chapter addressing health disparities and the social determinants of health. Her work reflects her passion for student education, civility, and social justice.
Dr. Hedges also serves on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Human Caring, where she champions peace, compassion, and humanistic values in today’s complex world.
